I am currently studying at Edith Cowan University doing my Masters in Counselling and work part time as an Employment Support Coach under the NDIS, assisting youth with disabilities and mental health achieve meaningful work and independence. The aims in doing my Masters in Counselling is to achieve a job as a counsellor in NGO companies where I would apply these skills in particular to help women; women in situations such as domestic violence, self-esteem issues, family counselling, couples, disability and sex therapy counselling.
Edge Employment Solutions is a disability Employment Service Provider under the NDIS and DES providers. Edge is for those who have a disability, mental health conditions, or those recovering from illness or injury, looking towards meaningful employment. Edge empower people of all abilities to work through high quality on the job training, employment support and work place modifications.
The Family and Friends Reference Group is made up of a diverse group of people of varying ages, genders, cultural backgrounds and family types. The Family and Friends Reference Group consult with headspace Fremantle on a variety of topics and issues, and are involved in a number of local projects.
MYND’s vision is that each individual, family and community member will collectively develop a better awareness and understanding of mental health issues as well as of the importance of mental health in general, such that the associated stigmatisation, discrimination and isolation are reduced. In this vision, we are also more likely to come together to create an environment where help-seeking behaviours are encouraged, compassionate support is provided, and we would be open to education on mental health issues, and in so doing create communities of understanding.
