  • Young Darwin Scholarship at Field Studies Council
    Jul 2023 - Jun 2025 · 2 yrs

I embarked on a 5-day immersive journey on the Isle of Cumbrae, Scotland. During this opportunity, I delved into a Nature Journaling workshop and participated in a Rocky shore discovery session, gaining insights into the unique abiotic challenges of shoreline life. From hands-on laboratory analyses of barnacles and hermit crabs, studying their behavioral and physiological adaptations, to learning techniques for nocturnal mammal study through small mammal trapping and camera traps, the experience was truly comprehensive. I conducted a plankton and water quality study, examining indicator species in freshwater ponds and comparing the chemical composition of water samples across the island. Additionally, I measured trees to understand carbon capture in mature woodlands and explored carbon storage in soils. This multifaceted experience not only honed my scientific skills but also deepened my appreciation for environmental complexities.
