Most investment today is still made as if we operate in an infinite system. The problem is that we don’t. We live on a finite planet, and ignoring that reality is not just environmentally damaging, it is economically short-sighted. Sustainability, far from being a buzzword, is about business continuity, resilience, and protecting long-term value. This is why I am increasingly focused on climate risk, nature loss, and natural capital. Nature provides essential services, from water regulation to climate stability, that underpin our economies yet rarely appear in financial or operational decision-making. Taking those services for granted has created hidden risks. Valuing them, and investing in their maintenance, builds resilience now, rather than paying for failure later. My appreciation for the natural world didn’t appear overnight, and grew out of childhood experiences of collecting weekly Nature files, Scout expeditions and trips to the Alps, Himalayas and the Tien Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan. While more at home in the mountains, I’m also equally comfortable underwater, searching for elusive octopus and barracuda as a qualified diver along Spain’s Costa Brava. My other passion, people, initially led to the world of hospitality, where a rewarding career over more than a decade across the UK, Australia and Spain, helped ground my thinking in real-world constraints, trade-offs, and delivery, while also shaping how I approach complex problems involving people, incentives, and systems. This is what led to my current role at Sensation Apartments, where I lead a team of receptionists, oversee front of house operations and manage the revenue strategy. Alongside my professional work, I have continued to deepen my understanding of economics and sustainability through additional studies, including an ongoing degree in Management in Sustainability, Digital Transformation and Environment at the Open University of Catalunya as well as a Macroeconomics Short Course at the Oxford University. These studies sit alongside, rather than above, my practical experience, and help me connect theory with reality.
Working at the intersection of finance, nature, and strategy, with a focus on integrating natural capital into commercially viable business models. Focused on identifying where nature-based solutions outperform traditional approaches and deliver clear investment and strategic opportunities. Not as a trade-off, but as a more effective way to address core business challenges such as risk exposure, cost efficiency, regulatory pressure, and long-term value creation. This includes linking biodiversity, carbon, and climate resilience outcomes to financial performance, while aligning with evolving regulatory frameworks and corporate targets such as Net Zero and nature-related disclosures. Key areas of responsibility include: Building investment cases for nature-based solutions, connecting ecological outcomes with revenue generation, cost savings, and risk mitigation Developing tailored strategies for corporates, asset managers, and public sector organisations to incorporate nature into core business operations Supporting the development of client-facing materials that position sustainability as a driver of commercial value, not a compliance exercise Translating complex environmental and financial data into clear, decision-ready insights for senior stakeholders This work sits at the convergence of sustainability and commercial strategy. The objective is consistent: ensure nature is treated not as an externality, but as a core component of long-term business value.
