  • Senior Vice President Engineering at Rocket Internet
    Jan 2012 - Oct 2016 · 4 yrs 10 mos

Rocket Internet incubates and invests in internet and technology companies globally. In total >100 companies and ∼€30B evaluation. My time at Rocket Internet can be best described in three different phases: 1) In 2012 I was responsible as Project CTO to grow 5 new eCommerce startups around the world. The rapid rollout was possible by using Rockets standard eCommerce technology stack and customising it for the individual needs. For each new startup we formed an engineering team that I was managing. In addition to developing & launching a new platform I was responsible to find, coach and hand over to a local engineering team to take over long-term ownership for the newly incubated company. 2) Due to my gained experience about Rockets technology stack and different ventures in 2013 I was able to support a variety of more mature ventures in difficult technology times. Highlights were working for 3 months as interim CTO for theiconic.com.au in Australia as well as bringing the technology of the rapidly growing zalora.com back on track. 3) From end 2013 until end 2016 I was working full-time at Lendico and Rocket Labs while being an advisor as Senior Vice President Engineering for other ventures and the Rocket HQ.
