The intersection between education and entertainment. Games have the unique capability of making passive consumers to active agents and reach players emotionally far more than other media. Sadly, the gaming industry lacks in reaching its educational potential. I am both dedicated to teaching and enthusiastic about game design. This is why I decided to work on the intersection between gaming and education. As a game designer I use my knowledge of the learning process to develop impactful gaming experiences. I am enthusiastic about coordinating the design of complex systems and forming a bridge between designers, illustrators and educators. Creating concepts and improving them in cooperation with a diverse team is my passion. One project I played a key roll in is the app "Ein Fuchs im Netz". It is a cyber security adventure game aimed to educate players not only with facts and knowledge but also with a deeper understanding of what chances, dangers and consequences our use of the internet can have. I had the privilege of creating the concept for this app and accompanying it from start to finish as its creative director and game designer. The skills I have developed most in my career so far are designing and prototyping game mechanics, scripting and graphic design. I have also gathered a lot of experience in creating learning material, both analogue and digital, as well as implementing these at school and in workshops. I believe through my combination of hands-on experience and insight as a teacher and game design knowledge I can help in maximizing the impact of serious games of all kinds.
