Every school has them. The Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students who are quietly struggling. The ones whose teachers sense something is different long before anyone has opened a referral file or scheduled an evaluation. The ones who need more than what the standard classroom was designed to give them. In most schools the teachers responsible for those students were never explicitly trained to identify what they are seeing, document it effectively, or act on it with confidence before a formal diagnosis is in place. That gap between what teachers are prepared to do and what their students actually need is the problem I have dedicated my professional and academic work to closing. I’m Felicity Price, an Educational Consultant and Doctoral Scholar in Special Education Leadership at the University of Florida. I design and deliver professional development for Pre-K through 1st grade educators focused on early identification and intervention for students with diagnosed and undiagnosed disabilities. My work is grounded in a simple but urgent conviction: the earlier a child is seen and supported, the better their outcomes across every domain, academic, social, and emotional. The teacher who notices first, before the paperwork catches up, is one of the most powerful forces in that child's educational life. My goal is to make sure that teacher feels equipped to act on what they are already seeing. What I bring to schools and districts: - Professional development programs that equip early childhood educators to identify early indicators of disability and respond with confidence before a formal diagnosis is in place. - Practical, classroom-ready tools including observation systems, documentation protocols, and family communication strategies. - Coaching and consultation for instructional leaders who want to build a culture of early identification across their early childhood programs I'm currently completing my Ed.D. in Special Education Leadership at the University of Florida, where my research centers on teacher preparedness for early identification of disability in Pre-K through 1st grade settings. If you are a school or district leader who wants your early childhood educators to feel equipped rather than overwhelmed when a child in their classroom needs something different, I would love to connect.
