While some decades ago, luxury came along as capital-intense material consumption objects, luxury nowadays comes in more immaterial, fluid forms, such as peak experiences, quality time, mobility, freedom, connoisseurship, popularity, health, beauty, self-enhancement, wellbeing – or bluntly speaking – happiness. What will luxury mean in the future? No one knows the answer, and this is why I find this question fascinating. In order to maintain their vanguard position of tastemakers, luxury brands need to re-assess the tried and tested and leapfrog their own limitations. However, the issues many companies are facing are way too big to be faced alone. I'm deeply convinced that innovation is not about competition but rather about collaboration. Which is the reason why I recently founded The Swiss Center for Luxury Research, the Swiss thinktank for the future of luxury management. My goal is to offer collaborative forward thinking to foresee where the notion of luxury is going. If you are as passionate about this subject as I am, feel free to reach out!
The Swiss Center for Luxury Research unites luxury researchers and experts from top academic institutions in Switzerland to build a hub for thought leadership on the future of luxury management.
