R&D Specialist, Employee presso Exide Technologies. Research project at the Research and Development department, in the Product division. Study of the ConCast and Punching processes with focus on the product and the definition of the management parameters of the product for the subsequent phases, considering all the operational times and the stop and clean operations. The main focus is on the analysis of the mechanical characteristics of the pruduct and their evolution over time, namely: resistence to traction, resistence to compression, elongment, hardness, resilience, etc. Moreover, the activity entails the quality analysis of the product and the assessment of the crystal structure, as well as the study of specific aspects of different processes other than ConCast and Punching, such as the characterization of the leady oxide paste, with particular attention to the paste density, paste porosity and the carbon and sulfur content. In particular, a thorough testing process was carried out investigating the leady oxide paste, evaluating the contribute and effect of each paste additive to the overall C and S content, both in dry conditions as well as after the addition of water and acid, inspecting each additive's contribution both alone and mixed with the other additives. The activity is under the superivision of the R&D Product Development Manager, Mr. G. Mologni.
Pollutants (VOCs and GHGs) and odour atmospheric dispersion modeling and simulation. Source term assessment, sampling device design, definition of a proper sampling methodology, devising of a reliable method to assess the Emission Rate. RESEARCH PROJECT 1 Evaluation of gaseous emissions from area sources. DESCRIPTION OF THE RESEARCH ACTIVITY During this project new methodologies and novel models were devised to assess the pollutant and/or odoriferous emissions from area sources, specifically non active area sources. This project entailed devising new sampling devices as well. The performed research allowed to better understand such peculiar sources and also obtain more reliable emission rates and therefore more accurate impact assessments. Within the scope of this project, a good share of the research activity was carried out during a 6-months research stay internship at the Water Research Centre at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Coordinator: Prof. L. Capelli. RESEARCH PROJECT 2 BIOMAN - Bio-Revaluation of the Chemical District of Mantova by Planning Non-Food Biomass Supply and its Upgrading to Bio-Products (BioMAN). DESCRIPTION OF THE RESEARCH ACTIVITY During this project a supply chain was devised for the proposed methodology to produce bio-products thanks to a specifically designed bio-refinery. The focus was also on the foreseen impacts of the process, both in terms of pollutants emissions as well as odour emissions. Coordinator: Prof. F. Manenti. RESEARCH PROJECT 3 BIOREFILL - BIO-REFinery Integrated Lombardy Labs. DESCRIPTION OF THE RESEARCH ACTIVITY During this project a new approach was proposed with the aim of reducing the emissions of CO2 and maximize the biomass utilization capability. The focus was also on the foreseen impacts of the plant, both in terms of pollutants emissions as well as odour emissions. Coordinator: Prof. F. Manenti.
