I love working in space related projects, from their development to the launch and operational phase. My main professional experience (+30 years ) covers both these aspects, as a systems engineer developing and procuring hardware and software for platform equipment and astronomy payloads, and as a member of the flight control team in a few missions of the European Space Agency (ESA).
Main projects: # Satellite flight operations As a Spacecraft Operation Engineer, member of the flight control teams at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC), in charge of the preparation and execution of the flight operations for the following ESA missions, : - Euclid (NISP and VIS payloads), LEOP, commissioning, routine ops - Lisa Pathfinder (AOCS), LEOP, commissioning, routine ops - GAIA (Data Handling subsystem), LEOP only - METOP-B (AOCS), LEOP only - INTEGRAL (JEM-X, OMC and SPI Payloads), LEOP, commissioning, routine ops # Development of payload on-board computer systems As a HW/SW Systems Engineer on the following projects at Telespazio-Vega: - Hyabusa2/MASCOT asteroid lander on-board computer HW & SW development and SDVF procurement. Customer DLR. - LeonSvf1 and LeonSvf2: LEON hybrid emulator characterization studies. Customer ESA/ESTEC. - Simbol-X payload computer HW & SW development and end-to-end science simulator. Customer CNRS/CESR. - RTOS study for LEON based computers for astronomy high energy detectors. Customer CNRS/CESR. - On-board SW maintenance for the INTEGRAL satellite gamma ray spectrometer computer. Customer CNRS/CESR.
As a freelancer in Fiat Avio (Avio since 2003), development of the Power Supply and Data Handling subsystems for Cyclon-4 Satellite Launcher, during the phase B study.
The main projects and roles covered at Alenia Spazio (part of Thales Alenia since 2007) are: - INTEGRAL satellite (ESA) flight operations engineer. - SOHO satellite UVCS (Ultra-Violet Corona Spectrometer, ESA/ASI) payload avionics engineer. - Columbus ISS module (ESA): Avionics engineer for the ECLSS (Environment Control and Life Support S/S) and TCS (Thermal Control S/S) - Tethered Satellite System (TSS-1R ASI/NASA mission flown on Columbia STS-75 Shuttle): .. Procurement/refurbishment & testing of the Electron Gun Assembly (EGA) ; .. Support to AIV/AIT activities related to DCORE/SCORE experiment at NASA KSC (Kennedy Space Centre); ..
