Dr. Fatimah Zahra Zubair is a veterinary doctor and public health professional with expertise in Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), One Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). She holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria and is an alumna of the Aspire Leaders Program at Harvard University. Dr. Zubair currently works with the Alliance for Sustainable Livestock and is an Education Mentor with the Global Mentorship Initiative, remotely guiding college students in Kenya through career development. She also serves a Community Leader for the Aspire Alumna Community and a published researcher, she co-authored a peer-reviewed article on “Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Bovine Mastitis”, published in Advances in Animal and Veterinary Sciences (2026). A passionate AMR advocate, she has served as a Youth AMR Champion, Faculty Ambassador for the AMR Club at ABU and a Youth WASH Off AMR Champion, conducting community outreaches across schools, markets, religious places and abattoirs in Northern Nigeria including sessions delivered in Hausa. In 2024/2025, she was selected among 40 African Youth Champions to contribute to the global fight against AMR, organized by Stop Superbugs Squad in Collaboration with One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI), Trinity Challenge, South Centre and Microbiology Society. In 2025, her research, “Assessment of the Antibacterial Activity of Terminalia aviccenioides against selected Strains of Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative Bacteria”, was selected for presentation at the 5th International Conference of Veterinary Medicine and Health Science, University of Airlangga in Indonesia. She is also an SRHR Community Fellow with the Repro Health Academy, having led community-based reproductive health education for early-married women in Kaduna State through culturally sensitive and community-driven approaches. She is a registered member and volunteer of the Nigerian Red Cross Society. Commitments drive her work to advancing One Health, strengthening health systems, promoting antimicrobial stewardship and improving community health through research, advocacy and youth leadership.
