Dr. Farhana is a social and developmental sector expert with more than 25 years’ professional experience in both public and private sectors in Pakistan. She is a Medical Doctor from Dow Medical College, Karachi; Masters’ in Public Health from Health Services Academy, Islamabad and has completed doctorate (PhD) degree from University of New South Wales, Australia. Her areas of interests are Human rights, gender, and reproductive health. She has played strategic planning and implementation role at senior leadership and managerial positions in various donor funded projects including USAID on women and child health in Pakistan. As Senior Technical Advisor/lead role, she has successfully managed large teams; and was extensively involved in recruitment, training and performance monitoring of the team to deliver results. She has vast experience as technical advisor to develop technical material for trainings in several capacity building and awareness raising programs nationally on gender, reproductive health, and nutrition with international organizations such as Jhpiego, PSI, and Save the Children. She has carried out several consultancy work as independent/lead consultant and have conducted a number of evaluation studies for international organizations such as UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, PSI and Population Council. Currently, she has been working as Associate Professor and Head of Public Health Department in SZABIST University, Karachi, Pakistan. Additionally, since October 2020, she has been a consultant for Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) on Nutrition in Pakistan.
