Hi, I’m Fares, an Energy Engineering student at the University of Calgary with a diploma in Power Engineering Technology from SAIT. My studies complement one another, reinforcing my passion of sustainability and innovative energy solutions, while preparing me to drive impactful change in the energy sector.
Contributed to the development of the IBEX steam generator prototype, a new technology aimed at improving SAGD efficiency. Collaborated with engineers and technicians, where I strengthened my technical skills and gained valuable insight into taking a prototype from assembly through to operation, including running the system during testing this summer.
Entrusted with expanded responsibilities transitioning into the role of Water Treatment Coordinator while continuing to handle duties of a building technician. I demonstrated dedication and adaptability in managing both roles, contributing to improved team efficiency.
Supported facility operations at the Royal Alberta Museum, assisting in maintenance and troubleshooting of building systems. I conducted routine inspections to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
Contributed to the start-up of a 264 MW power plant with GE turbines fueled by crude oil and diesel. Monitored and gauged nine storage tanks (880 m3 capacity) to ensure smooth fuel operations, gaining valuable hands-on experience in power plant processes.
Efficiently picked and processed customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfilment.
