Faik Somer is a highly accomplished pharmaceutical and healthcare executive with over 35 years of global leadership experience across multinational and emerging markets, with deep expertise in commercial strategy, regional operations, transformation, and growth. He spent more than 25 years at Merck & Co., holding senior executive roles with responsibility for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa, covering approximately 150 countries, managing organizations of up to 2,500 employees and business portfolios exceeding USD 5 billion. Following Merck & Co., he founded Genova Pharmas in Turkey, and later served as a Board Member. Between 2019 and 2025, he served as Group CEO of BiRGi MEFAR Group, leading a major transformation and playing a key role in the 2022 acquisition by ADQ. He holds a BA from Istanbul University and an Executive MBA from Harvard University. In addition; Vice Chairman role in the Turkish Pharma Association many years and initiated the establishment of Foreign Innovative Pharma Association (AIFD ). He also initiated the formation of Turkish Ethical Business Foundation ( TEDMER ) and held chairman role for 4 years and still holds Honorary Chairman seat. He acted as an active board member and Vice Chairman of YASED the Foreign Capital Association mainly working with the government to bring the most updated and modern Patent law in Turkey which was achieved in 1995.
