Summary of My Duties and Responsibilities: Plan, develop and maintain the diagnostic radiology and Nuclear Medicine medical physics service for the hospital. Develop, introduce and maintain required QA l QC practice, policy and procedure of x-ray diagnostic and Nuclear Medicine equipment. Responsible for the development, implementation and management of radiation safety program. Perform periodic quality assurance/control testing of x-ray diagnostic equipment including Portable X-Ray, Fluoroscopic(C-ARM system, Cath-lab), Dental X-Ray, CT, and Mammogram. Develops advice upon and supports the implementation of operational policies, protocols and guidelines to ensure all legislative requirements, national and international guidance related to radiation safety are met and adhered to. Develops and delivers Radiation Safety Training Program to radiation workers in accordance with ALARA principle Makes Inspection of and recommendations on the design and shielding requirements of rooms and apparatus where ionizing radiation is used. Identifies and designates controlled areas, access control, and signage for areas where ionizing radiation is used, produced, or stored. Initiate the first rules for laser safety program in the hospital, Polices & procedures in accordance with ANSI (American National Standard Institute). Head of Radiation and Laser Safety Committee and Member of Facility Management and Safety Committee
Perform periodic quality assurance/control testing of x-ray diagnostic equipment including Portable X-Ray, Fluoroscopic(C-ARM system), Dental X-Ray, CT and Mammogram. Perform regular quality assurance testing of x-ray diagnostic equipment. Measure, calculate and assess radiation doses received by patients and staff during radiological procedures. Ensures all work involving ionizing radiation is undertaken in accordance with the international requirements. Develops and delivers Radiation Safety Training Program to radiation workers in accordance with ALARA principle. Makes inspection of and recommendations on the design and shielding requirements of rooms and apparatus where ionizing radiation is used. Monitors, inspects and reports upon the use of personal protective equipment. Performs inspections on work involving ionizing radiation and provides summary reports of Inspection findings. Develops and updates the laser safety policies and procedures in accordance with national and international requirement or guidance.
