About

My engineering journey began in 2000 with vocational training as an instrument maker, where I built a strong foundation in mechanics, manufacturing, and CAD modeling. Following military service as a truck driver, I completed a professional matura and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from HES Fribourg. A transformative journey from Moscow to Beijing via Mongolia broadened my global outlook and deepened my curiosity for technology across cultures. Over the years, I have contributed to a wide range of engineering projects. At SwissINSO, I optimized solar-powered reverse osmosis systems, while at Thurbomach, I worked as a Field Service Engineer focusing on turbine maintenance, alignment, and repair. My internship at TU Delft inspired me to pursue a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, where I developed a free-piston compressor for CO₂-powered hand prostheses. My collaboration with Delft Prosthetics introduced me to additive manufacturing—a technology I further explored during my PhD at ETH Zurich, focusing on laser-based 3D powder bed fusion of oxide ceramics. During my doctoral research, I also worked with Inspire AG, contributing to industry-oriented R&D in laser-based powder bed fusion, encompassing powder characterization, process development, part optimization, and technical consulting. Since early 2023, I have been serving as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Diamant Weber, where I lead the research and development of vitrified CBN and diamond grinding wheels. In this capacity, I am responsible for defining the company’s technological strategy, overseeing product innovation, and driving the integration of new materials and manufacturing processes. My role involves managing multidisciplinary R&D projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and fostering collaborations with industrial and academic partners. I also oversee prototyping, process optimization, and quality improvement initiatives, while providing hands-on technical support to production and ensuring continuous innovation within the company’s product portfolio. With a comprehensive background in precision engineering, biomedical innovation, additive manufacturing, and advanced grinding technology, I am committed to advancing engineering solutions that combine scientific rigor with practical impact across multiple industries.
