Fabien is a trained geoscientist who leverages his knowledge at the intersection of geology, hydrogeology, GIS and programming in project delivery. As the GIS and coding specialist at Mott Macdonald (East Asia), he is a strong advocate of digital transformation in the engineering industry, believing that integrated data management techniques can accelerate the problem-solving and optimise business outcomes.
Managing geospatial system contracts and delivery projects for National Parks Board. Focused on building and operating internal GIS systems and interfaces that integrate technologies such as LiDAR, AI-assisted analysis, and high-resolution mapping, enabling day-to-day operational and environmental causes.
I lead digital transformation initiatives in line with Mott MacDonald's global strategy at the intersection of GIS, BIM, Data Science, Computation Design. My focus is to groom talent and teams towards innovative digitally-led solutions across key sectors like Transport, Built Environment, and Water, while promoting sustainable business practices for the region.
• Project management for hydrogeological and geological infrastructures development across transport, hydropower, and environmental sectors • Apply Modflow modeling for comprehensive hydrogeological studies (i.e. recharge and relief wells set up) and contaminant transport analyses, contributing to effective water resource management. • Leverage advanced numerical modelling in geology (i.e. Leapfrog), hydrogeology (i.e. Modflow) and GIS (i.e. QGIS, GeoBIM) for enhanced data analyses and decision making • Perform geospatial site characterisation with GIS collector apps (i.e. Field Maps), data digitisation and georeferencing (i.e. ArcGIS pro) and remote sensing analysis • Innovate efficiency in project execution by introducing drone aerial photogrammetry for BIM design and VR/AR for integrated design process • Serve as a organisational advocate scale-up problem solving capabilities with coding (i.e. Python, Dynamo) and established coding club across Asia offices to promote the digital solutions (i.e. PowerBI, Power Automate, AI Builder) in projects • Develop computational designs and improved CAD/BIM workflows with Dynamo, Grasshopper, APS and Python, resulting in streamlined design processes.
• Collaborating with Public Utilities Board (PUB) towards enhancing national water supply capabilities • Built data-driven models and scenario simulations to cross-validate effects of groundwater flow and saltwater intrusion (Modflow, Seawat, Mike, Sutra) • Strong focus on data management, analysis and data visualisation with programming languages (R, Python, SQL) and GIS • Field survey management and data collection • Lectured GIS courses for Masters students at NUS and supervised Final Year Projects
• Simulated dewatering effects through geostatistical and numerical models • Conducted streamflow and chemical measurements to define flow interactions between river and aquifer • Digitised and built data visualisation model of water supply network GIS
• Collaborating on the development of an alert system using predictive modelling to forecast temporal salt water intrusions due to pumping • Interpreted 2D real-time resistivity (ERT) for the monitoring of saltwater intrusion
