Fourth year student at UCLA pursuing a BS in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. Published Undergraduate Researcher at UCLA’s Jacobsen Lab specializing in DNA Methylation and epigenetics. Emergency Medical Technician with Vital Care Ambulance. Passionate about the medical field, patient care, academic research and teaching.
Conducted cooperative and independent research in a plant-based DNA epigenetics lab. Achieved greater understanding of DNA binding proteins, such as histones, and post-translational modifications, in order to manipulate them for the benefit of society. Mastered creating and collecting samples with various mutations. Led basic and advanced experiments while also interpreting and documenting the results in several publications. Practiced diligence, patience and persistence and learned how to design experiments that yield successful and useful results.
Co-founded a volunteer peer tutoring program to help students master organic chemistry concepts through a shared learning experience and feedback loop to professors and teaching assistants. Served as a Learning assistant for Cancer Cell Biology MCDB M140.
Served as team manager for UCLA’s Division 1 women’s tennis team. Responsible for equipment procurement and game day facility preparation. Led administrative support for reimbursements, sponsor communications, player documentation, travel arrangements, technical support and event planning. Trained and collaborated with new staff members and served as an ambassador for the team and host to new recruits. Provided proactive problem solving and player and coach support. Contributed to the team environment that led to a Pac-12 Championship in 2024.
Deliver compassionate and reassuring support to patients and their loved ones while responding to Basic Life Support Emergency and non-emergency calls. Assess patient conditions, monitor vital signs, and provide appropriate treatment on-site and during transport. Receive, interpret and maintain accurate and detailed patient care reports, documenting observations, interventions, and patient responses. Collaborate with medical professionals, including paramedics, nurses, and physicians, to ensure comprehensive patient care. Engage in ongoing training and professional development to build treatment skills and stay current on best practices. Apply treatment protocols, response requirements, quality assurance procedures and company policies.
Tutored elementary and high school students in all subjects with a specialty in biology, mathmatics and Spanish, where I was able to explain complex concepts with examples to build student understanding. Co-founded virtual tutoring program to support students, teachers and parents through the transition to online learning due to the pandemic.
Shadowed physicians at Chinese Hospital, non-profit, community-owned, acute care hospital. Observed Dr. Alan Yang and Dr. Irwin Chow, anesthesiologists engage in 48 surgeries. Participated and assisted in procedures such as phacoemulsifications, kyphoplasties, ERCP, and ethmoidectomy.
Selected as one of 28 founding members, elected Battalion Chief and co-authored organization bylaws. Designed learning plan including coordination of guest speakers and training first aid methods. Grew organization to more than 100 members and trained three incoming classes.
