• Maintain mammalian cell lines under consistent aseptic handling and workflow control across extended culture periods. • Perform siRNA/CRISPR transfections, qPCR and Western blot for expression monitoring and reproducibility. • Develop SOPs to support consistent execution, documentation accuracy, and contamination prevention.
Responsible for driving a research project developing a point-of-care rapid diagnostic device for the diagnosis of bloodstream infections and antimicrobial resistance, working almost independently to investigate potential research areas, uncover novel technology through experimentation, and troubleshoot experimental failures through careful result analysis. Key responsibilities include: 1. Independent planning and execution of real-time PCR experiments using strong molecular biology techniques. 2. Design and validation of 2 fluorescent probes to perform multiplex detection and polymicrobial infection diagnosis. 3. Validation of viable cell detection technique to improve device diagnostic accuracy. 4. Evaluation of various research areas and their potentials to be actualised in clinical setting.
Responsible for developing elements of a microbial detection device for the quality validation of food and pharmaceutical products. Key responsibilities include: 1. Investigation of chemical interactions between bacteria and polymers, performing several experiments on at least 3 bacterial species and 5 strains. 2. Supporting optimisation of microbial filtration and capture process through repeated trial and error of different membrane filters. 3. General maintenance of lab and lab equipment, such as regular cleaning of benches and ensuring constant supply of chemicals, buffers and sterilised consumables. 4. Troubleshooting of additional experimental problems by the optimisation of experimental parameters to isolate root causes of experimental issues, utilising key problem-solving skills to do so.
Directly reporting to R&D Optics Senior Staff Engineer to work on optical instruments. Key responsibilities include: 1. Streamlining qualification test of calibration targets by designing ImageJ macro programme to automate manual test procedure. Despite a limited time span as well as minimal guidance and prior exposure, the programme was developed promptly. 2. Boosting calibration target yield by 5% after rigorous re-assessment of qualification test criteria. 3. Support of production line through equipment testing and qualification as well as troubleshooting issues. 4. Display of strong teamwork abilities within R&D team to break down laboratory processes and solve them in synergistic manner. The team was able to deliver important analysis results.
