I work alongside a highly specialised team of reactor and criticality physicists, working on reactor codes and forging the expertise that is required by the teams working across EDF's fleet of nuclear power stations in the UK.
I tutored two students, both in Y13, one studying A-Level Mathematics, and one studying A-Level Physics. I provided thoroughly planned private tutoring sessions that were an hour and a half long, at least once a week, to each tutee. Nearer towards their exams, I would tutor one student three times a week, and the other twice a week, meaning I was tutoring almost every day. I tutored via Zoom, using interactive tools and presentations, and spending most of the sessions working together to answer past paper or example questions, providing guidance, model answers, and independent opportunities to complete their work in my sessions. Being self-employed, I meticulously structured my tutoring timetable, organised all of my sessions in plenty of advance, and kept a thorough log of the progress of each of my tutees, that I could feed back to them or onto their parents. I truly enjoyed this year of tutoring, and I will definitely be looking to tutor A-Levels again when I'm back in university for Fourth Year.
I worked in an outdoor kiosk-based cafe over the summer, working behind the ordering counter, on the coffee machines, on the cafe floor, and in the kitchen.
I worked primarily as a waitress in this bistro, serving food and drinks, and tending to the restaurant floor. I also worked behind an ice cream counter and a cake counter during my days of work here, and assisted in the kitchen and behind the tills. I practised barista skills, and worked also in cleaning the restaurant, as that was the responsibility of the waitresses. I also acquired two Level 2 qualifications in Cleaning Principles and Infection Control while training in cleaning around COVID times.
