I started to work as an HSE specialist in 2011 at the construction of the Özdilek Park at the Levent İstanbul. I worked for 7 months there. Then, I started to work with Kaya Safety at the Zorlu Center in Zincirlikuyu. I have worked for 20 months there at the Zorlu Center project. When I was working there, I took the IOSH safely management training. After this, I started to work with Hyundai engineering and construction at the 3. Bosphorus bridge project and I left in November of 2015 I started to work with IGA (Istanbul Grand Airport construction project) after the Bridge, When I was working here, I got B class OHS certificate and NEBOSH training. Then, I worked on a Bosphorus bridge project in Turkey / Çanakkale as HSE Chief for nearly 3 years. Now, I am working renewable Energy sector in Istanbul.
I am working at the head office of the company which has hydroelectric power plants, wind power plants, and solar energy power plants. Some power plants are in the operational phase and some are under construction. (Total Capacity is 494,194 MW ) My responsibilities ; • Site inspections, 45001,14001 internal audits, and reporting to Deputy General Manager • Coordination of HSE engineers working on site • Attending kick-off meeting for new sub-cons. • Preparation and update of procedures, instructions, and agreements for HSE. • Selection of PPE types. • Preparing accident investigation reports. • Provide safety training for he employees (such as working at high, hot Works, confined spaces, lifting operations) • Following PTWs and JHAs and supporting the employees for these.
I was working as HSE chief with officers, engineers, and one trainer at the Asia side of the bridge. My responsibilities; • Auditing of the subcontractors working sites and reporting the site inspections to the related subcontractors. • Making weekly meetings with the subcontractors and reporting the meeting records to the HSE Manager. • Following the legal training, induction training, and toolbox meetings then reporting the training records to the HSE Manager. • Planing the drills with the related subcontractors and reporting the drills to the HSE Manager. • Following of work permit system at the site (Lifting operations, hot work, confined space, scaffolding installation-dismantling,) also LOTO system. • Inspection of internal departments and preparation of the audit report within the framework of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards together with the HSE Manager and Environmental Engineer. • Participation in kick-off meetings of new companies. • Following the legal periodic inspection of the related equip. • Inspection of dining halls and dormitories with doctors, food engineer, and administrative affairs personnel periodically. • Ensuring the storage of hazardous chemical wastes which are from the companies, together with the Environmental Engineer in the relevant waste area and their disposal by authorized companies. Also recorrding to MOTAT system. • Adding the Noise and Lighting measurements, training records, and some site observations to committee meeting presentation. • Participation in HSE committee meeting • After the accidents or near-miss, reporting of the accident or near-miss reports and investigation reports to the related departments and HSE manager. • Updating of HSE plans, procedures, and inst. , also preparing risk ass., emergency plans with the HSE and Const. team. • Accompanying the periodic site inspection of lenders and other third-party or ministry audits. Closing the reported non-conformities with the related departments.
In İstanbul New Airport Project, I was working as HSE Section chief with 11 OHS specialists and inspectors. My responsibilities ; • Making weekly OHS meeting with the subcontractors, and reporting the decisions of meetings to the HSE Manager. • Reporting the dangerous and improper situations to subcontractors and HSE Manager. • Attending to committee meetings. • Participate in third-party inspections. Like the creditors and government inspectors. • For the subcontractor companies and main company, determination the requirement of the special training like rigger, signalman, assembly and disassembly of scaffolding, installation of lifeline, etc. • Cooperation with the construction team, during the preparation of the plan, procedure, and instructions (like working at height, hot work, confined space, night shift workings, lifting operations, etc.) • During the site inspections, informing the improper situations to responsible sunbcons' HSE specialists and following it. • Following the PTW • Coordinate monthly inspection of the heavy construction equipments, lifting equipments, and their documents. Also, ensure making color codding for fire extinguishers, lifting equipment, and electrical hand machines. • Preparing accident investigation report, near-miss report, and reporting to OHS Manager. • Environment applications (separating and removing of the West, Giving information to the waste companies. ) • Following the sickroom’s records. • Planning and reporting of the drill. (fire,rescue,evacuation) • Checking some documents of the Subcontractor companies that is just start to work at the site. (Risk assessment, Emergency plan,method statements,) • Attending to risk assessment team. • Preparing JHA (Job Hazard Analyze): Making meetings with the responsible construction engineers in analyzing next day's workings ,their hazards and precautions.
I was working as HSE Engineer on this project. My responsibilities and tasks; • During the slip form and climbing form are being installed and the formworks are rising and being dismantled, train to workers and taking precautions in the direction of HSE Manager. • Before lifting operations, preparing lifting documents (PTW), and checking the necessary precautions on land and on marine, • Checking and tagging the installed scaffoldings which are located In the decks and in the pylons, informing the responsible subcontractors, and reporting the improper situations to HSE Manager and related subcontractor company. • Following the hot work permit in the deck and in the pylons. Checking the required precautions. • During the rough work at the approach road. Ensuring the collective protection precautions on the formwork. • Following the PTW in the pylons, decks, and in the anchor block. • During the making suspension cable, checking the internal and external platforms on the pylons. • During the installation of the catwalk and main cable, train the workers about falling materials and working at height and checking the taken precautions. • Daily site inspections, Accidents, and near-miss reports sending to HSE Manager. • Directing the HSE workers to take precautions for improper situations. • Planning and reporting of the drill. (fire,rescue,evacuation) • Following the lifting equipments and machines which are needed technical inspections and ensuring the taking inspections. • Attending to preparing risk assesment team and committee meetings. • When the method statement, machines, and hazards are changed inform and train the workers also defining the risks and added to risk assessments. • Participate in third-party inspections. • Giving Toolbox.
This Project consists of 4 towers, a performing art center, and a shopping center. I worked at OSGB company which depended on the main company. My responsibilities ; • In my responsible area, following the rough works and steel Works reporting and informing of the improper situations, hazards, personal mistakes to Subcon and my chief. • Checking the work permits and signing PTW forms. • Inspection of the scaffoldings and tagging them. • Attending the risk assessment team • Informing the chief, when any method, machine, etc. are changed. • Giving Induction training and some special training such as fire, hand machine, scaffolding. • Also, I have given training on this project for 6 months.
