I lead the development and operations of backend systems across our products, focusing on architecture, scalability, and reliability. My work includes designing distributed backend services, evolving a Python FastAPI ecosystem, and ensuring AI-powered features (serverless infrastructure or API's) run reliably in production environments. I’m responsible for coordinating backend development and delivery across the team, including technical planning, code and design reviews, and cross-team collaboration with product, mobile, and DevOps. My work also includes API design, backend performance optimization, AWS infrastructure management (EC2, S3, SQS, container orchestration), observability with Datadog, and continuous improvements to deployment and release workflows. The backend systems I work on support several consumer-facing AI applications, including Banger AI, FaceAI, AI Dub, ChatIn, and VideoAI, enabling AI-driven media generation, video processing, and real-time user interactions at scale.
• Designed and implemented scalable Python microservices, maintaining ML pipelines and deploying models effectively. • Configured and managed AWS environments, including EC2, S3, SQS, and container orchestration. • Developed APIs for mobile applications, ensuring secure and efficient server-side software. • Optimized backend performance, enhanced security measures, and resolved performance issues. • Monitored and analyzed application performance, delivering key improvements for efficiency. • Collaborated with cross-functional teams to align development goals and technical solutions. • Created comprehensive and clear documentation for software systems to ensure maintainability.
Development and Analysis of Anomaly Detection Systems for Buckeye Partners Supervised by Dr. Zhang: • Collaborated with Buckeye to collect and analyze sensor data from pumps, creating a verified dataset. • Trained machine learning models, including AutoEncoders, TranAD, and SAMFormer, for data labeling, anomaly detection, and forecasting. • Delivered weekly progress updates through well-prepared presentations, ensuring clear communication of results to the team.
Development of Dataset Generator and Evaluation of Deep Learning Models Supervised by Dr. Kockara: • Engineered TBPGen with C# and Unity Engine, generating 1,398 diverse total body photography images. • Evaluated skin lesion detection and segmentation using Python/Pytorch across 13 deep learning models. • Achieved 90% of IoU and F1 scores, demonstrating the TBPGen dataset’s enhancement in detection and segmentation accuracy.
• Spearheaded the development of the Continuous Improvement Software, transforming it from conceptual idea to functional application, including critical Suggestion, Kaizen, and Near Miss workflows which transitions processes to paperless and reduces process time by 60%. • Designed and implemented 200 JSON APIs using Node JS and 25+ user interfaces using React JS, including integration testing and unit testing to unsure system reliability. • Utilized PostgreSQL, and MongoDB to manage and query databases, ensuring a 99.9% data integrity rate and facilitating smoother data retrieval and management processes. • Managed projects with Jira in a SCRUM-based Agile environment, ensuring frequent releases of functional code and achieving 100% on-time task delivery.
• Designed and implemented 15+ user interfaces for mobile applications using Dart/Flutter, enhancing user interaction and engagement. • Acquired in-depth knowledge and practical expertise in Git for version control, significantly enhancing team workflow and reducing merge conflicts by 60%.
