Experienced educator with a passion for challenging and supporting students. I have taught the following courses at UNC-Charlotte, Department of Psychological Science: Child Psychology (PSYC 2120), Community Psychology (PSYC 2165), Lifespan Development (PSYC 2117) Critical Thinking about Research (PSYC 3291), General Psychology (PSYC 1101), Health Psychology (PSYC 2160), & Seminar in Developmental Psychology (PSYC 4625). In addition, I have taught the following courses at Wingate University, School of Sport Sciences: History of Sport (SMGT 200), Sport Management (SMGT 111), & for first-year students university-wide, a one-credit "Applied Learning Strategies" seminar. Applied researcher with experience in healthcare and school settings. My dissertation focused on improving school environments for all students in grades 3-8 and aimed to promote more equitable academic and behavioral outcomes by collaborating with a large public school district and nonprofit organization.
Increase CIS' capacity to carryout its research agenda by assisting Dr. Virginia Covill, Director of Research and Evaluation, with applied research and evaluation. Specific projects include qualitative work to better understand how alumni perceive the impact of CIS on their adult lives, and a mixed methods project in partnership with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) to measure and improve key aspects of the school environment (i.e., school culture and school climate).
Taught the following undergraduate Sport Management courses: SMGT111, Introduction to Sport Management; SMGT200, History of Sport. Taught a first-year seminar course: ALS101, Applied Learning Strategies.
• Empowered approximately one-hundred students in navigating their first year of college. • Carried out traditional advising responsibilities, such as working with students during the registration period to create appropriate course schedules and a four year academic plan. • Met with students in 1:1 and group settings as often as the student’s needs required; supported and encouraged students in their curricular and co-curricular activities as they adjusted to university life. • Worked closely and cooperatively with the Office of Student Success, Academic Resource Center, Business Office, athletics, faculty, staff, and other offices to promote individual student success. • Taught a one-credit Applied Learning Strategies course, fall semester 2013.
Earned a M.Ed. in Sport Administration while serving as the men's and women's assistant tennis coach.
Taught first through fourth grade special education in full inclusion and Resource Room settings. Collaborated with six general education teachers to best meet the needs of the students in each class.
