My research involved finding a link between the immune system and its effect on epigenetic modulators HDACs, in regards to regeneration of the spinal cord. Specifically, the research studied the effect of HDACs on progenitor cells that give rise to regenerated motor neurons. As a Master’s student, I had the opportunity to learn and apply techniques such as PCR, qPCR, FACS, as well as, the use of intracellular markers under confocal microscopy. I also had the opportunity to learn how lab facilities operate in more depth, especially in regards to zebrafish husbandry.
