About

Erich Pick is head of the staff unit Energy Systems & Technological Development with a focus on integrated and systemic energy transition in the areas of electricity, heat, mobility and hydrogen through sector coupling and storage systems. As an artist, curator, as well as an author in the field of cultural studies, he reflects on the aesthetics of space, topology, architecture and urbanism. His artistic work includes various sculptural-installative approaches as well as the media of video and sound. In his dissertation Biotopia, he makes a partly speculative attempt to think together artistic artifacts and the dispositives of power and government interwoven in the life sciences. He studied energy engineering (diploma 1998) and philosophy at the University of Essen, fine arts at the HFBK Hamburg (diploma 2007). From 1998 to 2002 he was a research associate at the University of Essen, Department of Ecologically Compliant Energy Economics, and from 2010 to 2013 a research associate at the HFBK Hamburg, Department of Theory and History of Art. Numerous publications in the abovementioned disciplines. Research stays in València (Spain), New Delhi and Istanbul.
