About

AFTER years dedicated to being an artist, ecologist and ornithologist the idea of designing furniture as an addition to these other passions has hatched recently. I started by generating a list of descriptive words to use as my guiding principles and the final cut was: dynamic energy, organic elements, and clean intentional lines. In time I added the words rich, steeped, and time-marinated surfaces. The resulting synthesis has an esthetic that truly encapsulates my vision.   CURRENTLY i am based in an urban environment and immersed in it's industrial detritus, but I had a long history of living in natural settings where the detritus was produced by nature not humans.  My design principles fuse together the essence of these two personal environmental experiences. I use common industrial materials such as steel, concrete, and wood in ways that highlight their striking lines and textures. I use reclaimed materials that all have a story of utilitarian function so the pieces feel grounded in spaces open to the sky or inside, under a roof.  NEW pieces are generated from the same original core of principles of "simple honest lines and organic textures". Cor-Ten steel, sandblasted wood tops, and metal sand casting are new for 2010. Every piece is numbered and signed, and as the world changes so too will these artistic forms of function.
