Recently retired, 25 year veteran of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, last working in the Washington D.C Central Office, IPPA, Network Management Branch, National Network Support Section. I've been in Law Enforcement since 1984, and have focused on the Information Technology portion of it for the last 18 years. I am an highly experienced Manager, Leader and Technical Expert in the field of Information Systems, Law Enforcement and Prison operations.
Responsible for care, maintenance, support and upgrade of the Federal Bureau's Wide Area Network across the United States. I work with a group of specialist that maintain and assist field site across the country with their Networks, Servers, applications, protection and system security. These are mixed environments, Novell Netware, Windows Servers, Novell Suse Linux systems that interface with other Windows and Unix based systems across the country. Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, setup and decommission of Blackberry mobile cell phone services for all field sites. I troubleshoot problems with the phones, the connectivity with the Blackberry Servers and the cell phone carriers. (ATT, Verizon, Sprint, etc.) I recommend vendors, phone models and services, when requested. I am currently responsible for Upper level Network Customer Support for the South East Region of the U.S. I provide assistance to the Information Technology Managers, Specialists and occasionally end-users at the field sites. As a former Field Site Manager, I have a special understanding of the issues that the Managers are dealing with that gives me a better perspective than most of my colleagues,I often am called by Managers from other Regions because of this and provide assistance, as well as, perspective to them as to why a particular policy/security program is being used. I recently completed training in implementing Microsoft's Hyper-V virtualization technology, which we will be deploying to dozens of sites. I also provide customer support for remote access users and ensuring their ability to continue to access their information securely and continually, while offsite.
