With 23 years of professional experience in the global chemical industry in the fields of Marketing, Sustainability, Sales and R&D, combined with prior post-graduate education in business in USA/Italy/Switzerland and engineering in Canada/Germany, Enrique has well-rounded expertise with solid know-how of the industry and its applications to deliver growth in this evolving global ecosystem. He speaks 5 languages and has grown from engineering and sales roles in the first decade of his professional journey, to more senior manager and director roles both in commercial and technical functions in the second decade. He has experience leading and motivating international teams across continents to deliver upon the great challenges and opportunities of the industry. Growth markets lead for the Packaging & Specialty Plastics business unit in EMEA, focusing on areas like Rigids and Photovoltaics, as well as scouting and developing new applications across the specialty plastics portfolio. In his first year in the role, he's already delivered double digit sales growth with the cross-functional team, including commercialisation of new products in a new application.
Sustainability lead in durable specialty plastics applications in Infrastructure, Consumer and Transportation segments. Works together with Marketing Teams and across functions to drive new value opportunities in Circularity and Decarbonization. In this role, he interacts directly with customers and value chain participants to define and prioritise efforts towards publicly announced company and industry goals. In addition, he’s member of the Advocacy Team representing the company in regional and global associations, participating in conferences and webinars to share new developments.
Technical lead for Infrastructure, Consumer and Transportation team. Overall responsibility for the technical interface with customers and for defining/implementing the innovation pipeline in conjunction with commercial and R&D. In this role, he had the great opportunity to lead a team of 15 engineers and chemists in 5 different locations, growing the team and attracting new talent. This was a key period in the journey as a new team was formed that brought together years of experience and know-how from two major companies. Together we delivered, with innovation contribution as percentage of sales increased during the tenure. During this time, Enrique had the honor to lead an Employee Resource Group (ERG) in Switzerland, and be the co-Chair in EMEAI region. During this tenure, the ERG was expanded into the MEAT region for a positive impact in alignment to company’s Inclusion & Diversity goals.
Technical and laboratory lead in EMEAI for Elastomers and Wire&Cable markets. Technical partner to the Regional Commercial Director and part of the Regional Management Team representing the technical function. As such, responsible to define and deliver innovation sales while supporting EBITDA generation for the business. He also had the opportunity to lead the laboratory team, working together with highly experienced colleagues with Safety First.
Global market segment lead in Houseware and regional lead in Building&Construction, working with teams in all regions to define and deliver the 4+1Ps strategy by segment. Led the first ever co-branding initiative for the business at the London Olympics to accelerate market penetration and proliferation of innovation products. Identified key areas of growth using the Real / Win / WorthIt methodology setting the path to increased revenue. Shaped new projects to expand innovation pipeline and gain new customers. Presented to the leadership a clear vision of fragmented markets including prioritised roadmaps by segment. Conducted market research and revamped sales tools with digital presence to accelerate growth. Re-defined channel-to-market in specific smaller market segments.
