Dr. Stefan Englberger

Head of Commercial & Investment Analysis | Energy Infrastructure & Battery Storage | Tolling, Offtake & Revenue Models

Zürich Metropolitan Area

About

I lead Commercial & Investment Analysis for large-scale energy infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on battery energy storage. My work is about turning technically complex assets into bankable, risk-balanced revenue structures - at the intersection of energy markets, commercialization strategy, tolling and offtake models, investment cases, counterparty negotiations, legal risk allocation, and long-term asset value. At ECO STOR, I built and lead the commercial function covering route-to-market strategy, partner selection, contract structuring, investment analysis, commercial governance, and performance steering across the battery storage asset life cycle. My strength is translating complexity across markets, technology, contracts, and investment cases into clear commercial decisions and executable revenue structures for large-scale energy storage and infrastructure projects. My background combines commercial execution with deep technical expertise: Dr.-Ing. in battery storage technology from the Technical University of Munich, with research on multi-use battery operation, techno-economic optimization, battery degradation, peer-to-peer energy systems, and vehicle-to-grid applications. I enjoy working where strategy becomes tangible - in contracts, investment decisions, partnerships, and operating models that help scale flexible, bankable energy infrastructure.
