I am a second-year DVM/PhD student at the University of Minnesota, driven by a passion for veterinary medicine and scientific research. I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor's in Animal Sciences, where I developed a strong foundation in animal science. My academic journey and hands-on experiences have equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to advancing veterinary science.
• Conduct research on mosquito-borne diseases of veterinary and public health importance under the mentorship of a USDA entomologist. • Maintain mosquito colonies, conduct fitness and competence experiments, and utilize molecular techniques to evaluate pathogen infection, dissemination, and transmission. • Contribute to research aimed at improving the understanding of arthropod-borne disease risks to livestock and human populations.
Dispense medications during after-hour shifts for the Urgent Care and Emergency Departments at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.
• Support VetCamp, a career-focused educational outreach program that introduces middle and high school students to veterinary medicine. • Lead tours of the College of Veterinary Medicine for prospective students and visitors. • Assist with student recruitment and outreach initiatives, including Q&A panels, educational fairs, campus events, and admissions programming. • Provide administrative support through document organization, records management, material distribution, and office operations. • Maintain records and manage data using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets to support departmental projects and student services.
Participated in a summer research program focused on developing future veterinary scientists through hands-on research and translational medicine. Gained experience in study design, project execution, hypothesis development, and data analysis while conducting a trial evaluating the effects of pain mitigation strategies on behavioral and physiological indicators of acute pain in neonatal calves undergoing band castration. Collected and analyzed activity data using accelerometers, performed health assessments, and assisted with biomarker sampling to evaluate animal welfare outcomes. Presented research findings at the 2025 Boehringer Ingelheim National Veterinary Summer Scholars Symposium in Spokane, Washington.
• Performed various equine health care duties in clinical, hospital, and surgical settings. • Performed other duties as needed in the operation of the equine veterinary facility to assist veterinarians, ensure the ideal patient standard of care, and promote a successful veterinary practice.
• Performed milking procedures for a 115-head dairy herd. • Cleaned, sanitized, and maintained milking equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with herd health protocols. • Monitored the health, behavior, and condition of cows before and after milking, identifying and reporting any health concerns. • Administered treatments and assisted with routine herd health management under supervision. • Assisted with calving procedures and provided care for cows and newborn calves during the periparturient period.
• Supported a class of 50 undergraduate students by hosting weekly office hours and providing guidance on course concepts and assignments. • Evaluated and graded weekly assignments. • Assisted with exam administration and proctoring for three course examinations.
• Worked with a graduate student to investigate inflammatory pathways involved in offspring neurodevelopment, glial cell function, and behavioral outcomes following maternal gestational insults. • Assisted with experimental design, animal handling, data collection, and analysis to evaluate neurodevelopmental and neuroinflammatory processes. • Conducted an independent research project examining the effects of methamphetamine exposure on neuroinflammation in adult male rats.
