Units served: Stroke & Traumatic Brain Injury • Conducted comprehensive evaluations and provide evidence-based treatment for cognitive-communication, speech, language, and swallowing disorders to support functional recovery in an acute rehabilitation setting. • Collaborated closely with an interdisciplinary team—including occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and physicians—to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care. • Delivered patient and family education and counseling on communication strategies, swallowing safety, and compensatory techniques to promote carryover and a successful transition to the next level of care.

• Completed a 10-week medical externship in acute care evaluating and treating adults in a Level I Trauma Center. • Performed bedside swallow evaluations, including history intake, oral mechanism/cranial nerve exams, and feeding trials to assess concern for acute oropharyngeal dysphagia and recommend next steps. • Administered a range of speech, language, and cognitive assessments to evaluate aphasia and cognitive functioning. • Composed detailed, accurate patient notes and flowsheets in EPIC in compliance with hospital standards. • Assisted speech-language pathologists via feeding and observation with FEES & VFSS administration.
• Coordinated daily, weekly and long-term activities of 20+ student staff via delegation of tasks and projects, monitoring calls and problem resolution, and staff training. • Assisted in the hiring and onboarding of new student employees. • Worked with higher staff to plan and implement business strategies, policies and procedures. • Developed and implemented quality training material and guidelines that improved consistency in service and business processes.
