RESPONSIBILITIES • To organise, develop and perform the Packing Engineering operations for the Personal Safety Division (PSD) European Business Unit (EBU), ensuring that all corporate, business and European standards are adhered to, and that cost and time goals are met. • Design product packaging to meet the business needs of promoting brand image, protecting the product, minimising overall supply chain costs and meeting the legislative requirements for the business. • To play a major part in the commercialisation phase of new product launches, and to manage the relevant parts of the project programmes to ensure launch dates are met. • Supporting product development teams in the development of product/packaging design and packaging processes, introducing new and innovative ideas whenever possible. • Working with the EU Technical Affairs team to ensure that all packaging artwork and user instructions comply with the relevant European standards. • Co-ordinating the creation and approval of artwork and translations with external design agencies and the PSD regional teams. • Ensure that all packaging is correctly marked (article numbering/bar coding, corporate identity, legislative/regulatory requirements, hazardous warnings etc.) • Complete specifications and standards for all products (including Bill of Materials for repack operations) and maintain the Packaging Engineering standards databases. • Co-ordinate design agency monthly service review meetings and manage the packaging expenditure. • Make a positive contribution to the continuous improvement processes within the EBU particularly towards achieving the targets for Cost, Growth and Cash.
