I manage and deliver digital strategies that communicate the government’s environmental policies or announcements across Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. I work in a high-performing team responsible for Defra, the Environment Agency and Natural England's social media channels. From the UK’s response to global deforestation to banning single-use plastic straws, announcing expansions to National Parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, plant health, to water and air quality, I’m responsible for delivering digital and social media campaigns and communications, using social listening tools such as Brandwatch to monitor reaction to content, identify emerging topics, sentiment and feedback from engagements. I produce cross-platform content that represents the UK’s official government voice on social media channels promoting high-profile and significant announcements. I strategise on what content will get the best cut-through on our channels, writing snappy copy or emotive case studies featuring real people and real stories to bring announcements to life. I frequently work to tight and pressured deadlines, in a constantly-changing landscape, juggling multiple competing priorities, delivering digital strategies for 360 government-run campaigns, ensuring my work is cohesive and consistent with content on print, billboards and paid-for marketing. I regularly ideate, write scripts and brief-in creative concepts to a team of content and senior content producers or agencies to create video content for digital media. I oversee their workflow, providing feedback and balancing priorities to produce video or statics to clients. I also work with partners or influencers to amplify our messages across their audiences. Incident and crisis communications - I also produce essential COVID-19 communications for the public, warning and informing communications for severe nation-wide life or death incidents such as flooding, drought and wildfires.
