I have had four professions in my life: I taught in Primary and Secondary schools, did two years of Community Service, served as a Municipal Councillor, but most importantly, for 37 years, I worked as a Management Consultant. Growing and supporting growth is the passion that has guided me all these years. I have dealt with it from two complementary perspectives: - learning, through which individuals achieve mastery and flow (self-realization!), - change, that makes organizations increasingly effective and welcoming (achieving goals!). Parallel to work, I have cultivated other passions, two in particular: that for nature and travel, and that for writing. In addition to the four professional books listed in the "publications" section, I have self-published accounts of two experiences that have particularly transformed me, political activity and hiking through the Alps: - Prestato alla politica (Lent to Politics; StreetLib, 2020) - Giro delle Alpi. Perché camminare 92 giorni tra Muggia e Ventimiglia (Tour of the Alps. Why walking 92 days between Muggia and Ventimiglia; self-published, 2019). The next phase has begun, all to be invented, experimental, in which I will no longer be a full-time consultant. I have retired. I have chosen to free up time to explore new territories, to space out, to diversify, to go back to studying. - I will walk, and a lot, narrating my travels on Instagram (emanuele.cammina). - I will study the many things I do not know. - I will make my know-how available for valuable purposes in nonprofit activities. And other things that I don't know and don't yet perceive now...
I have now a diverse "job description": - I hike (I am passionate of long trails) - I study at the University of Milan - I work pro-bono - I'm a part-time freelance consultant
My areas of intervention are: design of HR strategies to support the business, management boards empowerment, management development, boosting of B2B and B2C sales organizations. Retail, Fashion and Luxury, Consumer Goods, Finance, HiTech, Public Administration are the industries in which I have developed most experience. I work in Italian and English.
The core of my professional activity is to build consistency between company strategy and People's values, skills, motivation and engagement. The success of a business largely depends on the alignment between the "work to be done" and the people who do it. I know that companies, like individuals, have their own identity and can only change if they are aware of and deeply appreciate their identity. Consultant since 1987, Partner from 1998 to 2022, President of MIDA from 2015 to 2020, I have helped many organizations operating in different industries, geographies and sizes with training, facilitation, organization, performance improvement and change management projects.
