I led a team of engineers supporting backend services for Microsoft Information Protection (MIP). As our usage grew, my team and I focused on improving scalability and efficiency. During my time on the team, we successfully lowered our compute costs by 50% while decreasing latency by right sizing our infrastructure and migrating from deprecated Azure services (Classic CloudServices) to Kubernetes. In addition to the work on MIP, I designed and built a service to provide teams across Microsoft a way to automatically collect key metrics into a format that made it easy to present and identify trends. These metrics included request volumes, latencies, compliance status, budget information, incident statistics, and anything else the leadership team determined critical. The service was built to be innersourced (source code available internally to anyone) with a focus on ease of onboarding and contribution. When I left the team, the service had been adopted by 5 organizations across Microsoft and over 100 teams.
