Performed strategic evaluations of global upstream assets, aligning portfolio decisions with long-term value creation. Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to assess subsurface potential, model production scenarios, and quantify investment risk through Net Present Value (NPV) analysis. Translated complex technical data into actionable financial insights, enabling senior leadership to prioritize capital discipline, often using AI to navigate complex datasets. Recognized for bridging technical and financial domains to support high-impact M&A decisions in a volatile energy market.
Led a multinational team of 10 direct reports, overseeing operated assets across Angola, Namibia, Mozambique, and São Tomé & Príncipe, including frontier blocks in the Namibe Basin. Spearheaded investment strategy for the Arcturus-1 deepwater exploration well, securing funding through high-level engagement with government and senior leadership. Defined agile exploration goals and post-well strategies, aligning technical assessments with corporate objectives to unlock future drilling opportunities. Maintained operational continuity through rigorous planning and budget oversight, while cultivating strong partnerships with six co-venturers and four government agencies to advance ExxonMobil’s strategic footprint in Africa.
Supervised a team of nine geoscientists in planning and executing the appraisal program for the Glaucus natural gas discovery in Cyprus Block 10, confirming the presence of high-quality gas and advancing regional energy security. Oversaw budget forecasting and secured over $100 million in funding through rigorous cost analysis and strategic alignment with global portfolio priorities—delivering the project within budget and among the top 20% of ExxonMobil’s financial predictions. Cultivated strong relationships with Qatar Energy and government stakeholders in Cyprus and Egypt, facilitating cost recovery negotiations and seismic data integration. Actively supported the career growth of team members by assigning high-impact responsibilities, mentoring technical development, and fostering a collaborative, goal-oriented environment.
During my PhD, I studied climate change during the Late Oligocene, using microfossils and geochemical techniques to reconstruct Earth’s climate history from 30 million years ago. My research revealed a major warming event that reshaped ocean temperatures and environments, and led to the discovery of a new microfossil species named in my honor. I'm also passionate about science outreach and education, regularly volunteering to teach geology and climate topics to students in my local community.
