Chief of Staff for early stage technology companies. I understand people and processes, and I use these skills to build great places to work. I've led an ops department (including HR, facilities, finance), established project management, worked on strategy and communications, and been a mentor/coach.
Filecoin Foundation stewards the Filecoin ecosystem and promotes open-source software and protocols, with the mission to preserve humanity’s most important information. Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web is the 501(c)(3) sister organization of FF. I was a key initial hire, charged with building the operational foundation for efficient, compliant, and healthy growth of the company. We are a fully remote and globally distributed organization.
I help early companies build business and people operations. My main focus is on companies with no other operational support, laying the foundations for functional work and future growth. I also work with more established companies, coaching and mentoring on operations and interpersonal matters. Clients have included software, AI, robotics, marketing, and non-profit organizations. * Establish finance systems, finance management, and relationships with accountants. * Advise on internal processes and compliance, create operational policies and systems. * Establish HR systems and procedures, write employee handbooks, develop benefits plans. * Advise on matters relating to HR compliance, interpersonal issues, communications, and management practices. * Manage and support diligence for fundraising. * Clarify goals and strategic vision, create and communicate tactical plans.
3Scan was a biotech startup that built robotic microscopes and software for 3D analysis of tissues. I was the tactical partner to the COO and led the operations team (including HR, facilities, and finance functions). I saw the company through a growth spurt from a small, tight-knit group to a larger, more complex organization that had to rely on systems rather than individual relationships.
Matterport cameras make 3D models of interior spaces. They asked me to help the format gain traction outside of the real estate market by expanding the types of spaces photographed with Matterport cameras and the contexts in which those spaces were presented. The main piece of this work was curating the Matterport gallery, which meant working with service providers to collect and commission compelling content. I also worked to get these models published in blogs and other online media.
