I am an Associate Professor in Gerontology and Head of Department at the University of Southampton. I am interested in the negotiation of care and support in older people’s family and community networks and the impacts of social stratification and migration on these. My academic background is interdisciplinary, combining anthropology and demography, and my research merges qualitative and quantitative methods, with ethnography informing the design and interpretation of survey sources. I recently led an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) project on Care Networks for Older People in Indonesia.
