I am a biophysicist with a PhD degree and 12 years of research and hands-on experience within the fields of Experimental Biophysics, Interfacial and Colloidal Chemistry. During these years, I have moved among different disciplines, countries, in academia and industry, and worked with dynamic and international teams. I have also gained experience in project management and Agile ways of working, and thrive with teamwork and communication among colleagues of different backgrounds and disciplines. Since 2021, I am a Research Scientist at Novozymes (now, Novonesis), working in the development and implementation of different biophysical, surface and colloidal techniques to the mechanistic understanding of enzymes, their interactions with substrates and formulation components, and their application mainly in biological detergents and in food. Before this, I worked as postdoc and assistant professor at the Dep. Pharmacy, University of Copenhagen, when I focused on understanding the structural effects and interactions of antimicrobial peptides, nanoparticles and oxidation on lipid membranes, employing neutron reflectometry, SAXS, QCM-D, FTIR-ATR, DLS and fluorescence. Previously, I was a postdoc at the University of Southern Denmark (Odense), working on the application of micropipette manipulation to characterize different interfacial and colloidal systems, such as liposomes, surfactant and lipid-coated interfaces, microparticles and emulsions, as vehicles for peptides and hydrophobic drugs. I have a BSc in Theoretical Physics, a MSc in Biomedical Physics, and a PhD with distinction cum laude from Complutense University (Madrid, Spain), with stays at UBC (Canada) and UJI (Spain). My research was around lipid-protein interactions, structural and mechanical effects of the two hydrophobic lung surfactant proteins on lipid membranes, crucial for the design and development of clinical surfactants for lung therapy.
