Maritime transport affects our environment and economy, but unlike other transport segments we currently have rather few ways of limiting these impacts. During this PhD project fossil-free fuel solutions will be investigated using life cycle assessment methodology. Fossil fuels are currently the only widely used fuel onboard larger vessels. The overarching title of the PhD is “Development of methodology for assessing environmental and economic impact of future fossil-free ship propulsion systems”. It focuses on assessing the use of carbon-based marine electrofuels in maritime transport.
