About

About Currently a student at University of the Sunshine Coast (USC). I have volunteered for the Sunshine Coast Screen Collective. I graduated from Australian Writers’ Centre, both courses being Creative Writing and Novel Essentials, which has led me to become a beginner writer with my first novel in the works. Graduated Tafe in 2024. I can offer reliability and cooperation within a team. My passion within a working environment is dedicated to making the vision held by the collective come true, whether it be a project or its own image. I have done two courses on creative writing, organised by the Australian Writers’ Centre. The first course took nearly a month to complete, while the second on lasted a little over a month. These, along with Tafe, have helped me in studying consistently for different durations of time and teach myself in balancing it with personal hobbies. Aspirational Statement My goal in life is to become a director and screenwriter of both film and television, and I am determined to learn as much about the departments attach as I can. I will continue my journey, by retaining all contacts made with other collective in my field and find work that they have connections with. This will also widen my network and furthermore in the future. This growing connection within the media would also delve into promotional advertisements for businesses, including other screen and media industries. There is also a part of me that would not mind experiencing different types of performance within the media. I have used my hard work when rehearsing for roles and have found overall positive feedback in response. For Semester 2, the next subjects will be extensive versions of these classes and will increase the scope of each field, that I had experienced. I am currently writing a Sci-Fi novel and hope to have it finished by the end of this year, or early next year.

Summary of your experience or skills My skills have branched to different fields, that are within or connected to long-term goal in becoming a director / screenwriter. During my time at Tafe, I helped in creating and even personally directed, small run-timed video that were focused on marketing, Public Service Announcements (PSA) and an interview. I will continue my career journey, by working on future short films and even advertising, which will aid in increasing my overall reputation amongst my peers. Since completing my Tafe Cert III in Screen and Media in 2024, it granted further qualification for me to take up a Bachelor of Creative Industries course, in USC. One of the main coordinators of the Screen Collective, Liz Boyd, provided a reference regarding my role in helping their organisation’s projects. This reference allowed me to venture toward casual job opportunities at David Jones and get enrolled into USC. David Jones taught me experience in different fields, like sales / promotion and additional customer service hospitality. I graduated Year 12 in 2022, then Tafe in 2024. My Tafe course was in Screen and Media Cert III. My Tafe course was in Screen and Media Cert III. I joined and am still in contact with the Sunshine Coast Screen Collective, including their collaborating studios, ‘Pluggers’ and ‘Stuff It’. I am currently doing a three-year Bachelor Course in Creative Industries, at USC.

    • Work on short films

In ‘Lured’ my first given role for this short film was a general runner, which meant I was contributing through retrieving things, helping out and checking on each department present. In ‘The Hoist’ arrangements were made with the owners of the property, in which we used. My role was working alongside the art department crew and design the set pieces involved. I continued in art department for the next project, Stiffs. In ‘Stiffs’ the space we used inside the Nambour council building, I helped with reorganising work desks, cupboards, kitchen items and additional practical equipment later used to create the environment filmed. In ‘Smiley’ I was transferred over to being an Assisting Director (A.D), which meant that I did any task required of the director themselves. I gave a hand with mostly lighting department and art. The lighting crew had stationed me to operate a smoke machine to help create the atmosphere of the film.

During my time at Tafe and even afterwards, I had done volunteer work for the Sunshine Coast Screen Collective. I have collaborated with multiple departments in the Screen Collective, while they were creating their short films based around experimenting with different genres like, horror (‘Lured’) comedy (‘Loophole’), drama (‘The Hoist’ and ‘Smiley’) mockumentary (‘Stiffs’). The departments I have worked with and gained experiences from are general running, art / practical designing, Assisting Director (A.D), cinematography, lighting and sound. The work we would do as a team, was conducted in various environments and with timing for being set changing around frequently. I would usually arrive on most sets at around 6 or 7 in the morning and depart after 10 at night. Typically, I stayed behind for longer durations to help the rest of my team pack up. The Collective’s projects consisted of 6 short films total, with only 4 that I and other volunteers were able to work on. I have done two courses on creative writing, organised by the Australian Writers’ Centre. The first course took nearly a month to complete, while the second on lasted a little over a month. These, along with Tafe, have helped me in studying consistently for different durations of time and teach myself in balancing it with personal hobbies.
