I am an experienced finance professional. I have worked in various financial institutions in the US and Canada over the past 20 years. In my current role, I provide oversight to a diversified mortgage loan portfolio and finance construction and land development projects in North America.
Responsible for due diligence and underwriting of commercial real estate mortgages in Canada and the US for one of the leading Canadian mortgage investment funds. Finance acquisition, construction, and redevelopment of commercial and residential properties. Conduct risk analysis, valuation, prepare loan summaries and provide investment recommendations to the senior management. Facilitate monitoring and financing of large scale residential and mixed-use construction projects with a total value of over $800M. Review appraisals, construction drawings, architectural plans, and environmental reports in English and French languages. Evaluate all aspects of real estate development including project feasibility, risk management, development plans and financing structure. Liaise with lawyers, title insurance firms and borrowers to facilitate successful closing and administration of the loans. Review and provide comments on the loan documents. Review progress claims, contracts, cost consultant reports, and process construction funding. Facilitate effective mortgage administration, review extension and increase requests, insurance and tax related documentation. Negotiate the terms of proposed lending transactions and develop recommendations to the senior management concerning deal structure and investment parameters. Work closely with the legal team on preparing loan commitments and closing documentation.
