My name is Elena Blanton and I’m currently a Pre-Law student at Indiana University pursuing majors in International Law and Spanish as well as a minor in Law and Public Policy. I graduated suma cum laude from Brownsburg High School and plan to graduate from IU-Bloomington in spring of 2026. Currently I work as a Resident Assistant as well as a Center Desk Assistant for ResLife at IU. Additionally, I hold an executive position as the secretary for our branch of Women in Law. This summer I will be working at the Law Office of Jeffrey G. Sweeney just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, attending in court, second seating trials, doing some Spanish translation work, conducting legal research, and writing rough drafts of memoranda of law and motions. After this upcoming final year of undergraduate education, I plan to attend law school in pursuance of my JD to then become a practicing attorney.
In this position, I provide administrative assistance to all residents at Briscoe IU including organization of mail, maintenance response and reports, information hub, staff support, etc.
As an RA, I'm responsible for organizing community events for individual floors and whole buildings, providing emotional and academic support for a floor of about 35 freshman and international students, and carrying out general and administrative duties for the position such as duty shifts/rounds, 1:1, small staff, and large staff meetings.
