Discovery of Novel Peptide Asparaginyl Ligases - Professor James P Tam • Screened seeds of 291 plant species for Peptide Asparaginyl Ligase (PAL) activity. • Extracted ligase for substrate reaction and performed MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry to analyze the products. Compiled data with excel and carried out transcriptome analysis via TBLASTN and BLASTP. • Discovered a species with potential PAL which requires validation with future studies.
Organised the programme as part of the main committee. Directed the Photographers on their job during the programmes. Designed and created videos and shirt. Involved in Photo-editing and marketing.
Led and directed the programmers on the creation and facilitation of games.
Study of regulation of alternative splicing in human myeloid cells - Professor Francesc Xavier Roca Castella • Performed PCR, gel electrophoresis of PRR14 Minigene. Cloned it into competent bacterial cells and carried out DNA extraction. • Conducted mammalian cell culturing and co-transfected the cells with alternative splicing factors, SRRM1 and SRRM2. Followed by RNA extraction and RT-PCR to produce cDNA for analysis of the effect of SRRM1 and SRRM2 on alternative splicing of different genes.
