My lifelong exploration of science, animals, and history have taught me many skills that I bring to my work. My field school, internship, and volunteer experiences along with my strong academic foundation have allowed me to develop my observation and deductive skills and gain a practical background in wildlife biology, conservation, management, presentation, human osteology, archaeological excavation, and object analysis. While at Brandeis University, I decided to take a break from school and fulfill a childhood dream by going to Africa and working with wildlife. I wanted to learn and make a difference while I was traveling. Therefore, I chose to volunteer at a number of wildlife reserves and animal care centers. Through the volunteer programs I learned about the local ecosystem, how to track animals, manage a wildlife reserve, care for sick and orphaned animals and so much more, all while working with amazing people some of whom have become lifelong friends. I have countless incredible stories from my time in South Africa from being chased up a tree by a rhino to pushing a stalled car past a pride of lions. But one place really stands out in my mind, the Animal Orphanage and Rehabilitation Center where I was lucky to volunteer on two separate occasions. My background photo is of an orphaned sub-adult serval I helped to care for while volunteering at that center. I interned in two immunology labs at the Benaroya Research Institute and a neuroscience lab at the University of Washington. I enjoyed utilizing my academic skills in the real world to make advances in medical science while being mentored by highly accomplished researchers. After I graduated from Brandeis, I decided to pursue acting, an interest I had had since childhood but not yet pursued due to my focus on the sciences. At the Seattle Film Institute, I was able to explore my creative side. I learned how to analyze scripts, audition, inhabit and develop a character, and work with my scene partners to create compelling performances. Now I am looking towards a new adventure. With the help of my career coach, I discovered that I can combine all of my interests and passions into one career. I am currently pursuing jobs in the broadcasting field with the aim of presenting scientific discoveries from all over the world in an entertaining and informative manner. I would love to bring my passion for nature, conservation, discovery and adventure into the public eye. I am interested in connecting with individuals and organizations to learn more about how I can get involved in this field.
