• Pre-Qualifying: proposed to fill the longstanding gap that exists in the field of mTORC2 by determining the spatial regulation of the complex and defining new mTORC2 interactors in the cell. This project with Dr. Amelia Luciano resulted in a publication (Luciano A., Korobkina E. et al., 2022, JBC). • Post-Qualifying: demonstrated that thermogenic mitochondria within brown adipocytes may export TCA cycle intermediates that fuel de novo lipid synthesis in part to protect against metabolic stress, and specifically elucidated the role of ACLY in mitochondria homeostasis and thermogenesis (Korobkina E.D. et al., 2024, Nature Metabolism accompanied by Briefing).
Research Assistant II - perform experiments that support a National Institutes of Health RO-1 grant that examines the function of limbal stem cells in the regeneration of the corneal surface: ο Development, scheduling and conducting experimental procedures. ο Obtaining end-point data using a variety of in vivo and in vitro read-outs that are obtained from a variety of sophisticated imaging and molecular biology instruments. ο Trouble-shooting experiments in conjunction with Drs. Ksander and Subramanian. ο Data analysis; transforming data into graphical results; preparation of slides and figures for manuscripts and presentations. ο Presentation and participation in weekly lab meetings in which the experiments from all lab members are presented and discussed. Other responsibilities: ο Purchasing of: animals, drugs, chemicals, biological reagents, general lab supplies. ο Tracking and maintaining supply inventories, animal inventories etc. ο Shipping of biohazardous materials (preparing samples, labels, shipping containers and completing regulatory forms). ο Oversight of compliance with rules and regulations through communicating with the Institute Safety Compliance Officer. ο Overseeing lab equipment maintenance. • Attended Second Biennial International Symposium on Ocular Regeneration (October 20, 2016, Boston, MA) • Attended Fourth International Biennial Symposium on AMD (October 20-22, 2016, Boston, MA)
