Eliane is an anthropologist and has worked since 2004 with the Ashaninka people of the Amônia River, in Brazil, near the Peruvian border. In Germany she has published numerous books and articles on the situation of indigenous Brazilians. For her engagement for the rights of Brazilian indigenous Peoples Eliane received in October 2013, in Germany, the title of honorary member of the Society for Threatened Peoples (Gesellschaft für bedrohte Völker). From 2011 to 2017 she worked as a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Anthropology and Cultural Research, University of Bremen, Germany. In the end of 2017 she worked as a government assistant for the Ashaninka mayor of the town of Marechal Thaumaturgo, Isaac Piyãko.
