Most marketing fails not because of bad tactics, but because strategy collapses inside the organisation before it ever reaches the market. I have spent over 35 years teaching marketers how to prevent that collapse. I am a Servant, Evangelist, Lecturer, Thinker, and Practitioner of Marketing. An integrated thinker who treats marketing as a discipline where analysis informs strategy, strategy drives tactics, and internal alignment enables execution. An award-winning Marketing Lecturer, I introduced the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s professional qualifications to Trinidad in 1988, training over 1,000 marketing practitioners across 17 years. Former students now hold CMO, VP Marketing, and Managing Director roles across more than 10 countries. My work is rooted in classical marketing thinking and the enduring importance of vision, purpose, differentiation, and distinctiveness, supported by hands-on experience as a small-business owner across education, construction, media, and consultancy. To counter the fragmentation of marketing practice, particularly since the early 2000s, when “Digital Marketing” was promoted as a replacement for marketing itself, I developed Stimuli Architecture Optimization. This systematic approach connects market analysis, strategic choice, tactical execution, and internal capability, while resisting the tactics-first thinking that dominates today. Drawing on Kotler, Booms & Bitner, and Nigel Piercy, I place particular emphasis on often-neglected dimensions: • People First – Philosophical alignment (market-oriented, purpose-driven, societal-focused) must precede strategy, because belief systems shape decisions long before tactics matter. • Physical & Digital Evidence – Brand coherence across physical environments and digital layers, including web, platforms, and emerging interfaces. • Processes (Plan-to-Plan, seeking optimum external and internal marketing 4Ps) – A disciplined planning rhythm that replaces annual rituals with adaptive cycles linking analysis, strategy, tactics, execution, and control. I integrate AI and technology across this system, ensuring tools serve strategic rigor rather than replace it. I continue to teach, consult, and develop practitioners who understand that marketing excellence is not about mastering platforms or trends, but about building systems that connect rigorous analysis to clear strategy to coordinated execution, enabled by internal alignment.
