Living in Dubai for about 10 years, I have been sharing my time between Performance, Service and Operations Management for Emirates Airline as well as other side businesses in Landscape Architecture and the coffee trade industry. I have been collaborating as Landscape Architect at desert INK in Dubai, after my stint with Emirates Airline as a Cabin Manager where I was responsible for managing Performance, Service and Operations.
- I established The Landscape Poet as a startup Landscape Architecture Design-and-Build Business in 2007 in Portugal. Over the years The Landscape Poet has developed design projects ranging from private residential gardens, to medium scale private rural estates, international Urban and Landscape Design competitions, and Landscape Design for social and cultural institutions. - I have been single-handedly Directing and Managing operations, whilst occasionally co-leading design teams of up to two landscape architect collaborators. In several other projects I have collaborated with partner Landscape Design studios, as well as Architects, Engineers, and Designers. - At The Landscape Poet I have delivered Landscape Architecture projects through all stages from development of conceptual and analysis phases up to Construction stage and Documents stage. Main projects: - “Cubist Landscape”: 1 ha turn-key project developed for Ms Elsa Peretti (Tiffany’s NY) in 2008 for Eccoci Winery Estate in Catalunya, Spain. I was responsible for all Design stages alll the way to Construction Supervision. (www.eccociwine.com) Built Work. - “Portuguese Integrated Garden”: I designed and supervised implementation of a 500 m2 garden slot for Portugal's main garden Festival, Ponte de Lima International Garden Festival in 2007.(www.festivaldejardins.cm-pontedelima.pt) Built Work. - Two more designs for 2007 and 2010 Editions of Ponte de Lima International Garden Design Festival, "Domestic Violence Awareness Garden", and "Portable Gardens". (Design stage). - Two urban rooftops (100 and 150 m2) for a private client in Lisboa, Portugal: ‘Tropical garden’, and ‘Romantic garden’; partnership with Architecture and Interior Design studio Superdeco. Built Work. - "Paysage et connaissance": Concept Design for a 500m2 garden plot for Chaumoun-sur-Loire International Garden Design Festival, France. (Design stage). - Bunol Castle Urban Design competition, Spain. (Design stage).
- Successful 9 years career with an exemplary track record, fast progression into Leadership roles, with outstanding Customer Service, Safety, and Security record. - Coached, mentored and developed over 4,000 junior members of staff over a period of 5 years. - Led teams of up to 25 staff from different cultural backgrounds. - Manager of award winning World’s Best First Class in 2020 by TripAdvisor. - Managed successfully several security and safety related incidents on board.
- Accountable for developing about 20 projects within two years, all design stages. - Projects ranging from Education, Health, Retail and Residential both Public and Private sectors, examples: 2010 - Winning bid with Idom Engineering for Julio de Matos Forensic Psychiatric Hospital grounds in Lisbon (1.5 acre). (Design stage) - Concept Design and Master Planning for four Hospital grounds (approx. 5 ha each): Fafe, Fatima, Barcelos and Julio de Matos, in Portugal. (Design stage) - Concept Design for three new Secondary School grounds(ranging from 0.2 to 2 ha): Cascais, Quinta do Conde and Luis Verney, all in Portugal. (Design stage) 2009 - Construction Documents for Decathlon sports stores: Montijo and Setubal, Portugal - Concept and Schematic Design for gardens of new villas (ranging 500m2 to 4000m2): garden in Odivelas; garden in Sao Bento; garden in Sao Joao; garden in Ericeira, Portugal. 2008 - Concept Design and Masterplan for four social care complexes (ranging 2000/3000 m2 area): Santa Teresinha, Florinhas, Ramada, Bombarral, all in Portugal.
- Assisting in development of concept design, master planning and construction detailing for urban residential projects and public park projects: - Parque Verde Mondego, 1,5 ha; - Ourem Parque Linear, 9 ha; - Fundacao Champalimaud Cancer Research Centre, 6 ha; - Casa Alvalade 2200 m2. - Participation in several urban design competition projects: - Masterplan for Thessaloniki; - Masterplan for Quarteira Waterfront; - Masterplan for Antwerp Quays Waterfront. - Concept Design for Cascina Merlata Urban Park, Milano; - Concept Design for Genk Waterschei Residential Park, Genk Belgium. - Responsible for introducing new plant signatures and schematic planting for large scale projects. - Creation of rendering images in Photoshop for project presentation. - Responsible for managing relations with clients and project stakeholders.
