I hold a First-Class Honours degree in BSc Biomedical Science and a Distinction in MSc Medical Microbiology. I am actively seeking opportunities in IBMS-accredited laboratories to pursue a role as a Trainee Biomedical Scientist. My goal is to complete the IBMS portfolio and attain HCPC registration, allowing me to contribute to the field with a strong academic background and a passion for scientific excellence.
I had the role of maintaining point of care (POC) devices, including ABL90 Flex / Flex Pro, Abbott Freestyle Precision Pro, and Clinitek Status+ Urine Analyser, while carrying out a stock check every week to ensure enough consumables were available for the POC devices. I was provided with a medic bleep to be able to communicate with staff throughout the hospital if there ever was an issue with any of the devices. My responsibilities also included training medical staff on how to operate the POC devices and using Excel to create and modify spreadsheets on the type of devices currently operating in the hospital and recording staff members that have been provided with training. Additionally, I was given the opportunity to observe Medical Laboratory Assistants with handling and sorting patient samples. I could also work alongside the specimen receptionist by providing assistance to visitors.
