I am the Assistant Director at Mindworks within UChicago Booth's Roman Family Center for Decision Research. I have academic backgrounds in Psychology (B.S. & M.A.) and Philosophy (B.A.). I've long been interested in better understanding vital abstract topics (e.g., morality, consciousness) from both scientific and theoretical perspectives and using social science research to create positive social impact! Looking forward in my professional career, I aspire to make positive, impactful contributions to societal advancements, knowledge, and policies through my work.
I work at Mindworks, which is a research lab within UChicago Booth's Roman Family Center for Decision Research.
- Forecasted manpower shortage over a 6-month period and hired 15 research assistants (RAs), avoiding an 85% reduction of part-time staff. - Implemented a new decentralized RA training process due to constrained staffing resources, making it ~200% more efficient. - Improved career growth opportunities for 5 RAs by promoting them to a new senior position with 14.7% increased compensation. - Formulating and implementing 3 novel cross-labs policies to streamline staff training, allocation, and reporting. - Overseeing survey preparation and data collection for 80+ experiments which investigate topics including DEI and ESG policies.
- Advanced knowledge on issues including racial and gender equity, corporate sustainability policies, and charitable donations by running 47 experiments with ~50 daily participants. - Educated visitors on concepts related to behavioral science and psychological research. - Established a cross-functional feedback system between management, RAs, and technology programmers to create ~30 product and process improvements. - Managed the inception of Mindworks’ LinkedIn page; gained ~2,500 organic impressions and 238 followers over 6 months. - Guided, supported, and provided professional development to RAs through our RA mentorship program.
- Project: “Children’s Normative Evaluations of Pro- and Anti-Autonomy Decisions.” - Conducting three novel studies on altruistic preferences to promote helping behavior by surveying 413 children and 390 adults. - Oversaw design, administration, and analysis of survey via a linear mixed effects model in R Studio. - Presented findings by visually modeling data insights as graphs and tables using Excel and R Studio. - Completed literature review of 28 research-backed sources across 9 topics related to altruistic decision-making.
- Assisted 40+ patrons per day through technical support and customer service. - Guided patrons on how to utilize technology, research, and campus services.
- Outlined extensive comments, critiques, and corrections for the writing of ~90 students’ (in total, across three semesters). - Guided the students’ developing writing skills, with a focus on organization, grammar, flow, and engagement. - Advised students on their professional development via their writing assignments.
- Project: “The Relationship between Math Anxiety and Numerical Representations in Word Problems.” - Conducted novel honors thesis research project mathematics anxiety and perceptions of math problems across 236 participants. - Guided ~12 participants (per month) through questionnaires and experimental procedures for the lab’s research projects. - Coded multidimensional scaling and ordinal regression models in R Studio to analyze results. - Managed scheduling and technical issues for the participants.
I participated in the Summer Program in Neuroscience (SPIN) REU at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. - Project: “The Relationships between Generalized Anxiety Symptoms and Objective and Subjective Executive Function.” - Recruited and scheduled dozens of potential participants (per week) across three separate research projects. - Directed ~20 participants/wk. through questionnaires, physical assessments, and cognitive testing across active experiments. - Recorded, filed, scored, and analyzed 29 adolescent participants’ demographics, questionnaire responses, and results. - Developed a comprehensive research poster and presentation on anxiety and executive function.
